(Top) Results of voxel-based analysis with two sample t-test on the CBV maps of AD/MCI and
control groups. The colored regions show significant CBV deficit in AD/MCI patients (p<0.005 and minimum cluster size =
1250 mm3). The color bar indicates Student t-statistic value.
(Bottom) ROI analysis results of CBV in AD/MCI and control groups. 8-mm (frontal, parietal, and occipital WM, hippocampus) or 6-mm (parietotemporal GM) diameter circles were drawn on each subject’s spatially normalized CBV maps to obtain the mean value for each ROI.

Research Overview
My research has been focused on developing novel magnetic resonance imaging methodologies for measuring neurovascular parameters in humans including
cerebral blood volume (CBV), cerebral blood flow (CBF), and cerebral metabolism rate of oxygen (CMRO2). Such parameters are critical for understanding
brain activities via functional MRI, and they are also useful markers for alternations of basal physiologies in neurodegerative processes. The developed
techniques have been used for understanding Alzheimer’s disease, Schizophrenia, and aging. I am currently working on developing a new MR pulse sequence
for measuring regional venous oxygenation envisioning application to Stroke study. Another topic of my recent interest is neural plasticity, for which
functional connectivity MRI is used to measure changes in resting state neural activity after training/learning.
